DEEJAY

ABOUT

A native to the south side of Chicago, IL, Kelly Brown has been a music aficionado for decades. At the Age of 16, Kelly worked as a sales associate for Coconuts music store for 5 years. In the fall of 2004, Kelly attended Jackson State University (JSU) in Mississippi where she first began her career as a DJ. In August 2007, Kelly experienced her first on campus gig that placed her on the map. This gig opened up the doors for Kelly, as she experienced non-stop campus and club gigs for the last two years of her college experience.

Shortly after this outpour of DJ business, in the fall of 2008, Kelly experienced her first taste of the music industry as a Marketing Intern for Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson’s record label “G-Unit Records”. While working with G-Unit, Kelly was responsible for grassroots marketing, event planning, and assisting the creative services and new media team for 50 Cent’s website.

In 2009, Kelly graduated with a bachelor’s of business administration (Economics) from JSU. She then relocated to Washington D.C. for a job opportunity. It was here Kelly built her experience and credibility in the DJ industry, spinning at private, corporate and wedding events throughout the Virginia, NYC and D.C. areas. Kelly also has DJ experience in Dallas, TX, San Jose, CA, and Chicago, IL.

In addition to Kelly’s extensive background in deejaying, Kelly enrolled as a student at the famous Scratch DJ Academy to complete DJ coursework in 2011 and 2015. Scratch DJ Academy is the world’s leading DJ and music production learning center co-developed by Jam Master Jay of Run DMC.

When asked how would you describe your entertainment/DJ style to an audience that has never seen or heard you perform and what can they expect, Kelly responded: “My DJ style is diverse and energetic! When I’m in the mix, I feed off the energy of my crowd. As an open format DJ, I love different genres of music. I enjoy surprising my listeners with a “throwback” that they may have not heard in a while and seeing their reactions is priceless. Music is my passion and I’m thankful for the opportunity to share that passion with others through the art of deejaying.”
