Radio Flyer wants to be the most beloved toy company in the world. How do they let the world know about their new mission? By having a big kick-off party, of course! Yes, the makers of the legendary red wagon created a new vision for their company, and took their first big step by having a private event to get their employees excited about the new direction. Held at the Adler Planetarium on July 19, 2006, Radio Flyer threw a multimedia cocktail hour punctuated by a presentation from their CEO Robert Pasin. The evening concluded with dinner from Food for Thought and dancing while the Navy Pier fireworks blew up in the distance! Fig was hired to produce the multimedia component and to bring a bit of hip, creative entertainment to the festivities. We partnered with the Adler tech team to create a vividly visual experience in the Sky Theater by projecting a trio of large images on the dome of the planetarium. From three different projectors, we showed catalog images of Radio Flyer product, historic photos of Radio Flyer in action, and photographs of the employees both here in Chicago and in Hong Kong. If that wasn’t enough, photographer Richard Shay fed us digital pictures of the guests live at the event and we blended these with the other images. This photogenic immediacy is always a big hit, because people love seeing themselves on the big screen!
Before moving from the Sky Theater into Galileo Café for dinner, CEO Robert Pasin and his leadership team addressed the intimate group of guests. We supplied wireless microphones for the speeches, a high-end video projector for a special DVD presentation outlaying Radio Flyer’s new mission statement, and an orchestrated PowerPoint presentation with music cues. We video recorded the entire event so that Radio Flyer would have a visual document of the event. We provided DJ services for both the cocktail hour and for the dinner/dancing portion of the evening. With such a highly technical show, we had our fair share of headaches and mistakes. Overall, though, the event was a great success as a result of a very talented and hardworking Fig crew headed up by the Event Sales Manager Andrew Ettenhofer. Oh, we also smartly did lots of tech-runs and dress rehearsals, which contributed to our success. We partnered well with our other vendors including Brandscope and Outsiders, Inc. who both provided some of the projected media for the event. In the end, it was quite an honor to partner with a company like Radio Flyer and help them to communicate and to celebrate their new mission.
